Source code examples are proving a good starting point for development.

AcSELerator QuickSet SEL-5030 Software is a tool for engineers and technicians to quickly and easily configure, commission, and manage devices for power system protection, control, metering, and monitoring. QuickSet Device Manager, included as a free, optional expansion pack, provides additional device management, control, and versioning capabilities. CYME Power Engineering Software The CYME Power Engineering software is a suite of applications composed of a network editor, analysis modules and user-customizable model libraries from which you can choose to get the most powerful solution.

In the course of the design of version 1.1 of the Thermodynamic and Physical Properties interface, CO-LaN has supported the development of one such example in Visual Basic 6.0 for a Property Package and a Property Calculator compliant with CAPE-OPEN 1.1 Thermodynamic and Physical Properties interface specification. More… This first example relied on proprietary code for the calculation part. This was supplied by InfoChem. So just the CAPE-OPEN layer is made available as source code.

It was felt necessary to provide a more complete source code example. This has been done in 2011 with the release of a Thermo System, Property Package Manager and Property Package source code in both Visual Basic 6 and C++. The examples have been developed by AmsterCHEM under contract with CO-LaN and made available. More…

Another example, in C++, has been made available by AmsterCHEM for a water and steam property package.

CO-LaN has also supported the development of two Unit Operations examples by AmsterCHEM, one in Visual Basic 6 and the other one in C++. Both examples are simple mixer-splitters and are provided in the same installation package. Version 1.0.4 is now available. They are consuming either thermodynamic objects under version 1.0 or version 1.1 of the CAPE-OPEN standards.

Cape Software is an experienced provider of products and engineering services that assist with factory acceptance testing (FAT), application logic validation and documentation, automated SIS proof testing and Operator Training.

Cape Software offers VP Link that is used to simulate the field devices during the testing phase of process control systems. The VP Link software is routinely used for operator training and control systems testing.

When VP Link is connected to a Distributed Control System (DCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), the logic will react as though it is on a live process. As such, VP Link offers an advanced level of Operator Training, given the integrated interactivity of a built-for-purpose process simulation model and the client’s control system.

Our products are platform independent which means we can support your PLC, DCS and SIS projects all with the same products. Our staff of Engineers has vast experience in developing customized VP Link models for various industries.

Our flagship product is a proven solution for testing and operator training needs. The simulation environment connects to your offline control system(s) and provides it with real-time Virtual Process feedback.

Our RACM SDK offers a cross-platform, multi-language wrapper for the ControlLogix Compute Module and provides a better way to communicate with it.

Cape Software Inc. delivers highly customized and process-specific operator training solutions leveraging the VP Link simulation environment.

VP Link is available on different operating systems:

  • Windows 7 through 10
  • Windows Server OS
  • Linux
  • PC running legacy Windows NT/2000/2003/XP/Vista

VP Link provides process dynamics in real-time to an off-line control system. While executing “the loop”, the controllers (whether physical or emulated) are performing their application-specific sequencing, interlock logic, PID, and regulatory functions as well as any advanced control strategies configured for the target plant.

VP Link is typically connected to the actual control system for pre-FAT or FAT sessions prior to controls going online. This could be either in the staging area or during on-site acceptance testing.

VP Link is non-invasive (does not modify the control application), easy to install and use (typically less than an hour for a Factory Acceptance Test setup), and allows for a true collaborative testing framework through its robust Client/Server architecture.

Engineering

This is performed either prior to start-up, during staging, or a scheduled shutdown. After start-up, VP Link may be used for Management of Change requirements, using a spare controller and operator workstation as a development node.
